ALMOST 90,000 PEOPLE turned out to Cork’s St. Patrick’s Street this weekend for the Laya Healthcare WorkWorld Street Performance Championship.
Home favourites, comedy acrobatic duo Lords of Strut, were crowned champions at the end of the two-weekend festival, the first of which took place in Dublin last Saturday and Sunday, attracting more than 200,000 spectators to Merrion Square.
The popular pair beat out competition from nine other destinations, including Australia, the US, Hungary and Japan.
According to organisers, ‘Ireland’s hardest working man-band’ entertained huge crowds with “rocking acrobatics, kick ass dance routines and even their own range of man beauty products”.
Mexico’s cyr wheel spinning and Chinese circus trained Pancho Libre placed second, and Australia’s daredevil contortionist Alakazam third.
