Some pigs saved by firefighters but 400 piglets killed in blaze

Several pigs were saved by fire crews.

FOUR HUNDRED PIGLETS and 32 sow cows have been killed in a fire on a pig farm in Tyrone.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 5:40 this morning.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters tackled the blaze on the Melmount Road in Strabane.

A number of pigs were saved by the crews.

Five farm buildings were also saved but two others were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is not yet know but it’s believed to have started in a shed.
