Which games should you get for your Playstation 4 this Christmas?
The console has been a bright light in Sony’s troubled year, but which games should you look out for?
IT’S BEEN A year since its release but so far, Sony can view the Playstation 4 as a success.
Any console that sells over 13.5 million consoles worldwide is doing a good job, but while the hardware is flying off the shelves, it’s the games themselves that people want.
While there’s a decent selection out there, here are the titles you should look at.
Note: For those wondering, Xbox One games will be covered at the same time tomorrow evening (Wednesday) while Thursday will look at games for the Wii U.
GTA 5
Where else can you find it: PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
Improving a game is hard enough as it is, but doing that and living up to incredibly high expectations is another thing entirely. Rockstar managed to do both and the updated version of GTA 5 is still as fresh as ever, partly down to it introducing a first-person mode which is just as crazy as you would expect.
inFamous: Second Son
Where else can you find it: N/A
Probably one of the visually pleasing games to look at on the PS4, the rethink of inFamous is both a graphical delight and fun to play. The missions can get a little repetitive, but the discovery and upgrade of your powers keeps things fresh and the controls means fighting is easy and satisfying.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

When the reboot first came out back in 2013, Tomb Raider was praised for a number of things, none of least the shift of gameplay from a action-platformer to stealth and survival, the characterisation and development of Lara and the graphics.
The Definitive Edition contains all the features and downloadable content released since then and is still worth revisiting, even if you have an older version.
FIFA 15
Where else can you find it: PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, 3DS (Ultimate team on iOS, Android & Windows Phone)
A few years ago, the title for best football game went to Pro Evolution Soccer, but FIFA has experienced a resurgence in recent times and has just about taken the crown for itself. Alongside the usual improvement to the series, the presentation is as close to TV quality as you will get and the controls are tight, providing one of the best footballing experiences out there.
Child of Light
Where else can you find it: PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PC
A 2D platformer that’s also a RPG, Child of Light is like a modern fairy tale, something reflected in the art style used, and is not only beautiful, but has a collection of well-rounded characters and balanced combat. The best part is it’s a digital download and therefore cheaper than most games out there.
Strider
Where else can you find it: PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
For anyone who remembers the classic 80s arcade game, the reboot of Strider is just as manic and crazy as its predecessors. It may focus a little too much on style, but the fast combat and flashy way in which you defeat enemies more than makes up for it.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

The long-awaited followup to the popular action-RPG series arrived this year, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it boils down to killing things and looting new equipment, but the level of customisation, the smooth frame-rate and excellent combat means you will be investing many hours into this.
Destiny
Where else can you find it: PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One
The much-hyped creation from the makers of Halo, Bungie’s epic first-person shooter may not have entirely lived up to expectations, but it’s still a great experience. There’s not much of a story, but that doesn’t matter when really it’s all about the combat, something that Bungie has honed down to a tee.
The only thing you need to be aware of is you will need a good internet connection to do anything in this game, but once that’s sorted, an expansive world awaits you.
Far Cry 4
Where else can you find it: PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
Another FPS with no real story, but again, that’s not the point of Far Cry 4 as it’s all about action.
Making the Himalayas the setting makes exploration particularly entertaining as it’s full of things to do and the combat is quite varied and unpredictable thanks to the game’s open-ended world.
The Last of Us: Remastered
Where else can you find it: N/A
What can be said about the Last of Us that hasn’t been mentioned already? Quite simply one of the best experiences you will get on any console. A triumph of storytelling, design and gameplay all wrapped in one.
