Police suspect arson in attack on Carrickfergus premises

A fire broke out yesterday evening at a commercial premises in the Trailcock Road area of Carrickfergus.

DETECTIVES IN NORTH Belfast are appealing for information about a suspected arson attack on a commercial premises in the Trailcock Road area of Carrickfergus yesterday evening.

A fire was reported at the premises at around 9.40pm on Friday, after which the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Two portacabins were completely destroyed and a third damaged in the incident. The PSNI say they believed at this stage that entry was forced to the site by cutting through metal wire on a gate.

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information is asked to contact police at CID in Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000.
