DUBLIN CITY COUNCILLOR Mannix Flynn has tabled a motion calling for the title Lord Mayor to be replaced with the more “inclusive” title of Civic Mayor.

The motion will be debated by the council later. Flynn has suggested the change because of the connotations of the word lord, noting the days of lords “go back to a time when Ireland was under foreign rule”.

We want to know what you think: Should the word ‘lord’ be dropped from ‘Lord Mayor’?

Poll Results:

Yes (6553)
No (3811)
I'm not sure (673)
