A PARISH PRIEST in Clare is offering recession-busting weddings as a way of helping cash-strapped couples, according to this morning’s Irish Examiner.

The ceremonies include ‘community weddings’ whereby the bride and groom are married after mass on a Sunday, and ‘micro weddings’ which include just the couple and their witnesses.

Fr Conor Cunningham is offering both services free of charge.

What do you think?

Poll Results:

It's a great idea. Weddings are way too expensive. (3124)
Not a fan. A wedding should be a special day. (3017)
I don't have an opinion. (855)

*’No frills’ in the metaphorical sense. So far as we know, Fr Cunningham hasn’t set a dress code.
