Poll: Should third level education in Ireland be fee-free?

The option of introducing a student loan system is also on the table.

A REPORT COMPILED for the department of education has outlined three options for third-level education; maintaining the current system with registration fees, introducing a student loan system and switching to a ‘free fees’ system.

This third option would require a significant increase in State funding to mirror systems in countries like Germany, where third-level education is free. However the option of introducing student loans is likely to be met with huge opposition.

We want to know what you think: Should third level education in Ireland be completely fee-free?

Poll Results:

Yes (12197)
No (5107)
I'm not sure (1080)
