Poll: Do you agree with the actions of yesterday's water charge protesters?

Some have said trapping the Tánaiste in her car for hours was “anti-democratic”. Protesters say it was peaceful. What do you think?

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, TÁNAISTE Joan Burton was trapped in her car for more than two hours by water charge protesters in Jobstown.

It was a tense demonstration and there were clashes between protesters and gardaí as officers tried to get Burton out of the area. Critics of the protest say the actions were a step too far with some describing them as “anti-democratic”.

However those involved in the demonstration yesterday insist it was a peaceful protest and was the community’s way of voicing their opposition to government policy.
