Poll: Would you support an opt in approach to sacraments in Catholic schools?

A recent survey shows Catholic schools want preparations for Confirmations and Communions to take place outside the classroom.

A SURVEY CARRIED out by the Archdiocese of Dublin has found that Catholic schools want preparations for Communions and Confirmations to take place outside of school hours.

The sacraments review group surveyed almost 2,000 parents, principals, teachers, clergy, and lay members of the parish, according to this morning’s Irish Times.

While the response to the survey will be discussed over the coming weeks, it is thought that it could result in an opt in approach to Communions and Confirmations, the same approach to sacraments in multi-denominational schools.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin greenlit the review after concern was raised last year that sacraments were being turned into “a piss up” for many.

So, we’re asking: Would you support an opt in approach to sacraments in Catholic schools?
