Third man arrested over gun and sledgehammer raid in Dublin post office

The raid happened at the Mill Shopping Centre in Clondalkin yesterday.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED another man in connection with yesterday’s armed robbery at a post office in Clondalkin.

The raid happened at the Mill Shopping Centre at about 11am when two men entered the post office and threatened staff and demanded money.

One of the men is believed to have been armed with a firearm and the other with a sledgehammer.

The raiders left the scene in a waiting car with a car fitting the description later found abandoned on St. Patrick’s Road.

Gardaí say they believe the men may then have gotten into different cars. A patrol later stopped a car and arrested two men who were taken to Clondalkin Garda Station.

The 27-year-old and 37-year-old are still being held there.

During follow up searches, a third man aged 25-years-old was also arrested and is being detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Gardaí in Clondalkin are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area before or afterwards.
