Earlier today, Dublin City Council gave permission for just three of the five scheduled Garth Brooks concerts in Croke Park.

Simple answer here, leave the 5 go ahead and ban Croke Park from having any concerts in 2015. There are loads of people wrong here but the people who bought tickets have done nothing wrong, Dublin City Council have made a huge mistake and have not thought it through.

The people who have done wrong are the promoters who sold tickets for concerts they knew breached planning regulations

Sounds reasonable, fine GAA for their part and use the fine for something for the country like the childrens hospital etc :)

I just love the way some people here are so generous with other people’s rights. Dublin city council made a fair decision and Brooks is playing for cash. 2 concerts was the initial take, he was happy to do that, but since Aiken oversold and touts are cleaning up we have another “scandal” and an artiste who believes his PR is better than Irish Law.
Many comments here show that that is the case, which is sad. To the genius who says let them go ahead and have none in 2015, I say WTF? That’s just insane.
If Brooks won’t play 3 he should be told where to go.

When you bought any ticket, or if you ever did (esp to an outdoor event) it was always ‘approval to licence ‘ but in all fairness they were never refused. Jeez Garth fans must be a rough lot…

It just proves that nothing in this country can be done right.. Think about the logistics of getting gear over for a concert like that, I’m sure the planning for that started months ago.. People were hired plane tickets booked and today idiots in Dublin City Council only came to their decision.. Absolute farce..

You may be right Neil. Another option would be to combine all 5 concerts into one massive concert in the Phoenix Park. If one million people could see Pope John Paul II there in 1979 then there should be no problem fitting in a “mere” 400,000. There have been many concerts held there before, maybe not of this size, but the precedent is there. If it’s too big, then split it into 2 concerts. If I’m not mistaken I believe that Brooks once played before a crowd of half a million in Central Park, New York City once so a concert of this magnitude is feasible. I just hope the park rangers don’t disapprove because it’s deer fawning season !!!

Genius?? just a suggestion….. even if it is an insane one. No need to be a smart ass. Although one more in the country won’t make too much of a difference.

It is not a about Brooks at this stage, it’s about 160 thousand fans, Hotels, B&Bs, flight tickets, transfers etc that have already been booked paid for……( I’m not one by the way).
