Agreed. These workers are having a laugh. I would support the removal of any pay increases that have been offered and the hiring of new staff should they not return to work. These people have a handy number but have convinced themselves they are irreplaceable. Let’s not forget they are essentially unskilled workers, little more than general operatives who are easily replaced. If their jobs were listed tomorrow the queue would be out the door looking to take their place for their current pay and conditions.

Let’s not forget that your displeasure is irrelevant and the Luas will not be running unless the workers authorise it.

Whatever. The wheels will not turn, the lights will not illuminate and the phones will not ring without the permission of the working class.

Thomas It appears you didn’t understand that the AAA – PBP stands with the working class as did James Connolly a century ago.

“unless the workers authorise it” – that one comment says everything that needs to be said about socialists…. Workers are there to do as they are paid to do. If they wanted decision making power they need to get promoted. If they don’t like the job and pay…..it’s simple… leave.

The permission and authorization of the working classes…

Well in the capitalist world they loose their jobs, unauthorized absence from work. We vote for a political parties that makes sure they aren’t given dole or social housing when fired from a no skill, well paying job and that shed no tears when the bank repossesses their house after a few months of not paying their mortgage.

The trains will not run, but the former drivers can starve for all the public will care and decent hardworking people that actually want to work for their salary and can understand reasonable pay and conditions/flexibility can take their place.

James Connolly stood for workers rights and fought against inequality not greed. Demanding extortionate pay rises while those on the front line of society, Doctors , Nurses, First responders earn less than half the salary is something James Connolly would most certainly not have stood for or supported and would probably be spinning in his grave to have his name even mentioned in the same sentence as this greedy lot.

Wally, isn’t this more about giving the dogs on the street control over their owners. Better to sack them now before the disease spreads to other sections of Dublins tranaport.

James Connolly was a reforming socialist with a chip on his shoulder. If he was around today he probably would be a union boss linked to the Luas strike action.

On their ugly Siptu building they say: We serve no king nor kaiser. They obviously don’t serve their own people either. So who do you serve but themselves? Selfish pack is all that’s left today.
