strange that a patch was installed onto a live system. normal practice would be to install a patch onto a mirror of the live system and test it first.
By the way, IT staff are not paid high wages, most banks have outsourced their staff to third parties. The IT manager is probably on big money and is probably getting it in the neck.from above for the last few days but sh*t flows downwards in corporations so he/she is paying it forward.
