@Alan Scott: My concern Alan is for the Garda, as far as I am concerned if you shoot a garda then you should spend your life behind bars.

@Honeybee: We don’t know yet who this second person is. The person who pulled the trigger he might be. I do agree with you of course the Garda would be everyone’s concern at this moment of time we don’t know who the other person is I did give it a lot of thought before I included him.

@Alan Scott: my thoughts are with the Garda for a full and speedy recovery and with appreciation for putting his life on the line for us all. My thoughts do not extend beyond him.

@Alan Scott: Details are only emerging but it is understood gardai were carrying out a drugs raid at a house when a shot was fired injuring a garda from the Emergency Response Unit.
Gardaí returned fire and a man inside the house was shot.

@Honeybee: Why if you shoot a garda should you spend life behind bars and not if you let’s say an ordinary person, hate this crap just because there in the emergency services the sentence should be different, if you shoot, attack, rape or rob anybody the laws should be the same weather your a garda or just a ordinary man, women or child.

@Gavin R: but when the sentence is so lenient for all above the above crimes then it should be stronger when someone attacks the emergency services.
I agree if someone is shot at with the purpose of killing someone they should get life full stop

@Alan Scott: before commenting we should wait and see if they recover any other firearms here or was it only Gardai weapons that were fired!!

@Larry Doherty: I guess another Garda must have sneaked into the house and fired at his colleagues through the door and injured the guard….. or the person inside the house was the shooter but I’ll let you decide!

@Honeybee: Thanks for that. More information in your post than the entire article. I really couldn’t give a toss what some member of the ERU, the GRA or charlie flanagan has to say.

I really hope the Garda makes a full recovery, any attempted murder with a firearm should lead to full remaining life in prison.

@Alan Scott: Exactly. Hope the Garda makes a speedy recovery. We need more like him! Pity his aim wasn’t a little better so that he couldt target the area between the two eyes!

@Alan Scott: Totally agree with you there Alan,
But does the brave’s paycheck reflect what they do in order to receive it,..? I say these Guys should be given a non-repayable unlimited type Credit card for what they do… This time it was’nt life threatning,.. But it was only called that AFTER the mess was Cleaned up..

@Gavin R: Well, because the emergency services have to go in where there’s high risk. They don’t have the option to stay out of trouble.
