Amid claims of drunkenness, the Seanad has voted to pass the Water Services Bill

Earlier, proceedings were suspended twice in less than an hour – after a row over claims that senators were coming from the Dáil bar to vote on the Bill last week.

The elected reflect those who put them there. Half the country’s pissed, going to work, at work, driving home from pubs. It’s ok, we’re irish.

Yeah, great robbie, thanks for that contribution. In other words, nothing (however shitty) can ever change and it’s pointless to complain or seek a new way. What a message of hope for the future. This 166 in the Dail, plus a sizeable number of the 60 in the seanad need to be turfed out NOW. They hoover money from worthy sources, and benefit no one but themselves. Time for change, BIG change.

Paul, if they’re drunk all day every day, it’s still crucial that the Seanad exists. If Enda Kenny wants something gone, the simple rule of thumb is that we need to keep it (and vice versa)

This is a national embarrassment again.

    - I’d love to set up a website that highlights globally the low, low, shameful standard set almost daily by overpaid over-expensed, belligerent, ignorant Irish Politicians including the drunken legislation, fraud, lies, deceit, nepotism etc and publicising it all both globally and especially around Europe as surely it would draw a lot of interest and scorn and they deserve to be ridiculed internationally…..

Time for an ELECTION – 2/3s of people are not paying this charge and want it paid from central taxation !
The Seanad has now proven the worth of the Senators therein – A nice correlation to examine those who voted to abolish the Seanad and those who chose to pass the water Bill..
Remember the main reason why the Seannd was supposedly to be abolished was to save money – every Senator should by now be questioning the “value” for money that is being gotten in Irish Water….
Name and shame the Senators – If Mary Louise voted for it then there’s no point turning up the volume when she is on television for example as some might see one.

You have a point robby. We’re great as a nation for criticising the politicians but how about we take responsibility for a change as the people who put them in that position and take it upon ourselves to vote in those who would serve our needs instead?

Yes Rochelle, But as soon as people reflect their preference for change from the lunatics that are in governance , they themselves are accused of favouring the looney left, lets face it we need a radical overhaul in Irish politics , and if its the left that kick starts it, then so be it. the electorate have been fooled and shafted for too long, time to get off our fcuking knees and fight for a future we can honestly say we instigated, its sickening to sit and take the shit thats been with us for years, and in my opinion has gotten worse.

We haven’t been paying enough, that’s the bloody point.

42 towns pouring raw sewage into rivers or the sea, people all over Ireland on boil notices for years, Dublin in real danger of running out of water due to it’s expansion.

The money to fix all this has to come from either charges, increased taxation, or cuts somewhere else, & that is a fact of life that can’t be ignored.

The biggest issue here is the poisning of our water by flouride and abortifacients. Also women taking taking the pill are poisining the waste water and they do not remove it so it gets into the mainstream water system and our children are drinking it making them not fertile. These chemicals are killing babies in the womb.. or preventing babies from being formed. What are Irish Water doing to help that? Nothing, they are towing the government line of killing babies and promoting homosex anything. I can’t wait till the people of Eire STAND UP AND BE COUNTED, fight their opression and say NO, NO NO! No MORE!

How many of them are paying for the parking in spaces provided for them with public money. Surely benefit in kind! If workers in the ESB stop having kids there will be no one working there!!
