You want to stop the sale of debt, and prohibit landlords from selling their properties? You understand no government can implement that, you’re trampling on private property rights. You’re an academic researcher in social policy, and you’re blaming the inaction of government for the results of constitutional law. Phenomenal.

    I don’t recall anything in the constitution about propping up financial institutions at the expense of the people of the country?

    I must give it another read.

    @Jonny. Sadly what Liam says about the Irish constitution upholding the rights to property ownership is correct. However, the good news is that under article 43, ‘The State acknowledges that these rights ought to be regulated by the principles of social justice. This means that State may pass laws limiting your right to private property in the interests of the common good’.
    @Liam. I’m pretty sure this part of the constitution was not included to facilitate today’s ‘vulture funds’ and the scoundrels that support them!
