And where would we be if ‘big pharma’ didn’t exist? Yes, they make money, but their products also save lives. Sounds like a fair enough deal to me. If my Dad didn’t take beta blockers every day he’d more than likely die. So i’m pretty sure someone developed the beta blocker!

    My comment Nicola is more geared towards what they don’t do rather than what they do in terms of drugs et al..Yes there are many products they provide that save lives but there could be more if the emphasise of profit was taken out of both research and delivery. So to respond directly with your personal example , yes your Dad survives because of some ones discovery re beta blockers but if that discovery was not patentable and thus profitable I am not convinced it would have been made accessible for the public..
