My friends and relations and I are a fairly open minded bunch here in Dublin but I’m beginning to think most of this island is full of narrow minded God fearing Catholic pioneer types. We’re all going to die sooner or later and if alcohol is bad for you so be it. Have any of you anti alcohol people ever been to London or Berlin where alcohol is sold in a corner shop or kiosk every 5 meters or so? Your heads would explode with the devilment of it all.
Make your vote count in the upcoming election. Any candidate who goes to mass shouldn’t be allowed be a TD in my opinion.

The government could be looking at regulating the market.

Yet other countries where alcohol is more readily available don’t have the same drink culture or alcohol related issues, what works there may not work here the same.

In certain parts of Australia alcohol is banned due to the social damage it does.

For those saying it doesn’t affect me, I don’t have a drink problem, you probably don’t but you are paying higher taxes to fund the health care of those that do.

Well considering Britain is similar to Ireland in drinking habits and the Germans are probably the biggest producers of Lager in the world? and love to get sloshed at various beer festivals right through the year but as Eoin says that you can buy alcohol every few feet in both Berlin and London and nobody is clamouring for restrictions unlike this little dictatorship of ours, big brother is watching!.

In my opinion Eoin mollycoddling to the drinkers would be a wiser move there is so much more of us than the god fearing pioneers or the holier than thou’s who will maybe have a few glasses of fine claret over an expensive meal and feel good about themselves.

I agree but most normal people have better things to be doing than moaning to politicians and Joe Duffy about other people’s practices so they are the ones that get heard
