I don’t think any of the scandals will be forgotten anytime soon – they are now being swept under the carpet as we know. In cases like this I think it is what you can expect when you bring guns into the equation – very few Gardai are dealing with gangland and dangerous criminals and they can’t all jump on that same bandwagon to paint a picture that they deserve lots of overtime etc for everything they do. Also having guns will provoke violence further. That was to be expected.

@Rita Gleeson: you speak about what you don’t know.

Eru support unarmed gardai,, it’s the unarmed garda investigating this lot in the first place and it’s the unarmed garda that rushes to the scene of an assault, armed robbery and shootings.

Any garda that works outside the station faces violence and danger. All of them

@Rita Gleeson: and are you seriously trying to blame the shot garda for the fact that he was shot by an armed criminal you isn’t supposed to have a fun in the first place? Sure let’s take away handcuffs and batons, im sure we will see a huge reduction in violent assaults on our streets!

@Rita Gleeson: The last four members of the Garda killed in the line of duty were stationed outside Dublin. Were their murders not dangerous criminals?
