I admire Peadar Tobin he is one of a very rare breed of politician. He stands up for what he believes is right. He is courageous honest and steadfast.he does not run with the hare and the hound…unlike the so called politicians who bend and twist in whatever direction the prevailing political wind is blowing ,spinless turncoats like Leo ,Simon and Michael Martin. They have all shown they are weak and sell themselves for populist opinion. .I never was a sinn vein fan and have never given them a second glance ,however if there were more people like Peadar and his equally courages political party lady member ,I might think again……… We are supposed to live in a democracy, freedom of choice and all that…when it suits ,but again this is a joke where journalists are no longer journalists and media are owned, brainwashing unsuspecting people, with mistruths and omissions. How sad it has become.

@Fiona McHugh: Nobody is arguing with Toibin’s point of view. He is entitled to that. What they are saying is that SF are shying away from taking an agreed party point of view. Like the other parties, SF are doing this in order to ensure that they dont lose votes. This has nothing to with personal conscience. It is another example of cynical party politics where, fear of losing votes results in parties allowing indivdual TDs to vote ‘according to thier conscience’. In other words, to vote in such away as to ensure that they dont lose any voters. Would you vote yes if all your constituents voted no?
