Refer to how much food was exported to England during the famine and how much wealth they have taken from us over the centuries!!
Imperialism is well and truly alive

Safe to say we know what Sammy Wilson wants to see on the G8 agenda, then.

Just think how much wealth was taken out of Britain by the Vikings and Normans. And then, instead of going home, some of them settled. Damned cheek. Never forget.
Can we stick with now and let very old history go ?
All nations should certainly learn from history but not constantly regurgitate selected episodes ad nauseum.

1000 odd years ago vs 170 years ago up to present day. Your comparison is pointless

What an ignorant comment, its thumbed down because it makes no sense. The Normans started British rule in Ireland. After the Norman invasion, Britain’s path to becoming an empire began. All the British monarchy since William the Conqueror are his descendants. They did a survey which found English people whose surnames bear Norman origin were more wealthy than people with surnames of native Briton or Anglo-Saxon origin. The Normans are the masterminds behind the British empire.
