QUEEN ELIZABETH II will begin a three-day visit to Northern Ireland today, meeting with the North’s Deputy Leader Martin McGuinness for a third time.

The British Monarch and her husband Prince Philip will meet McGuinness tomorrow at the museum at Crumlin Road jail.

McGuinness spent around a month in the jail, along with many IRA members and loyalist paramilitaries, in the 70s.

The royal couple will then make their way to Hurst-MacQuitty Stages in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, home of the HBO show Game of Thrones.

There, they will meet with the cast and crew of the wildly-successful programme.

From there, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will go on to a lunch at Belfast City Hall hosted by the SDLP Mayor of Belfast, Nichola Mallon. The lunch will also represent the Queen’s only speaking engagement of the visit.

The two will then attend a garden party at Hillsborough Castle, hosted by the Northern Secretary, Theresa Villiers.

On Wednesday they will attend a World War I commemoration in Coleraine. The event will commemorate the North’s role in the war.

The visit represents the third time that McGuinness and the Queen have met, following on from their meetings earlier this year in Windsor and in Belfast in 2012.
