THE QUINN FAMILY has released a statement following press coverage about the proposed sale of some of its assets.

It released the statement “following a number of queries from journalists and the recent press coverage” regarding the proposed sale of various Quinncompany assets.

The statement said the family felt it was important to issue a statement outlining its position.

The family’s proceedings against Anglo and Kieran Wallace of KPMG are listed for hearing in the Commercial Court next April.

In its statement, the family said it seeks to overturn Anglo’s takeover of the Quinn companies – “and unwind all actions taken since Mr Wallace’s appointment”.

It added that the sale of any Quinn companies or company assets would compound what the statement called “the illegality” of the Anglo takeover, saying that this “will result in the family vigorously pursuing the return of those assets”.

Two pubs in Dublin that were once owned by the Quinns – Quinn’s of Drumcondra and The Cat and Cage – are now up for sale by a real estate firm.
