What would Dublin look like if everyone vanished?
IMAGINE WAKING UP to discover everyone around you had vanished?
That’s the premise of RAPT, a new sci-fi drama made as part of RTÉ’s Storyland series.
The drama is set in Dublin, and sees paramedic and single mum Ange Smith (Sarah Jane Seymour) waking up to find herself alone in a completely empty world.
Well, almost empty…
As she hunts for her daughter, she discovers some dark forces at work.
The four part series was produced by Yvonne Donohoe of Blinder Films (who are behind the Savage Eye and Irish Pictorial Weekly), written by Devin John Doyle and directed by Kieron J Walsh.
RAPT is one of five new original dramas commissioned by RTÉ and the Irish Film Board for the new season of Storyland (which is described as ”commissioning platform to identify new and emerging creative talent in Ireland”".
A new series is released every Monday on the Storyland hub on RTÉ Player.
There are another three Storyland series on the player at the moment: Burning Wishes, a black comedy about death, friendship and grave-robbing by Deadpan Pictures; Farr, a crime drama set in Belfast by Stirling Film and TV Productions; and Ctrl, a fast-paced thriller about online hacktivisim.
Almost 200 drama production teams pitched their ideas to make a series for Storyland, of which five production companies won the commissions from RTÉ.
