Video column: Ireland's young and diverse population deserves to be heard

Large sections of our society are not being represented by the mainstream media – excluding valid perspectives and life experience from the national conversation, says Katie Varvos.

THE AVERAGE AGE of presenters on our national radio stations is 55 – and only one in three voices belong to women.

Yet Ireland has a young, diverse population with many perspectives to offer to the national conversation. Are the media really representing them?

Katie Varvos is a Canadian-born, Dublin-based vlogger who created the ‘The Unemployed Graduate’- a show about current news and issues.

She is a recent graduate, with a BA in Journalism and MPhil in International Relations from Trinity.
