Video column: The Historian – a tribute to Dublin's Shane Mac Thomais

As part of a series of interviews with Dubliners, journalist Eoin Lynch and photographer Deirdre Brennan paint a picture of the characters of the capital.

DUBLINERS IS A glimpse into the lives of some of the characters living in a city where history and modernity collide on a daily basis.

Told through sound and image this series brings the viewer a wide array of people who call Dublin their home.

A Jesuit who strives to help the forgotten, a chiropodist who delights in corns and ingrown toenails, the ghost of a poet who often strolled down the canal ,Dubliners is a celebration of the diversity of beliefs and attitudes walking around the city.

The series is a collaboration between the photographer Deirdre Brennan and journalist Eoin Lynch.

The first piece is titled The Historian and is a tribute to Shane Mac Thomais who passed away a short time ago.
