CONTROVERSIAL RADIO HOST Neil Prendeville will begin his new show at Cork radio station Red FM at the end of March, the station has confirmed.

It emerged last night that the had decided to leave rival station 96FM, after a 25-year career with the local broadcaster.

Red FM confirmed via Twitter this morning that his new show would begin on 31 March. It's understood Prendeville made the decision to quit 96FM because of a failure to come to an agreement on a new contract. His current deal expires next month.

The presenter’s name has made national headlines before in the last couple of years following a number of high profile controversies.

In 2010, was accused of exposing himself on an Aer Lingus flight. However no charges were brought against him following a garda investigation.

Last year, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland upheld a complaint about on-air monologue by Prendeville in which he said “we provide medical cards to Africans while Irish children go sick because their working parents can’t afford a doctor’s visit or prescription”.
