Two elderly women die in separate road crashes in Tipperary and Dublin

Both incidents happened this afternoon at about 1pm.

TWO ELDERLY WOMEN have been killed in separate road traffic collisions in Tipperary and Dublin.

Both incidents happened at about 1pm this afternoon.

In the Tipperary incident, a woman in her 70s was fatally injured when she was struck by a lorry while crossing the road at Townspark near Carrick-on-Suir.

The tragedy occurred on the N24 Limerick to Waterford road with the woman fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is currently closed and gardaí say local diversions will remain in place for a number of hours.

In the second fatal road tragedy, a woman in her early 80s died after she was struck by a car near Cabinteely Village in south Dublin.

The female pedestrian was struck by the car on the southbound side of the N11 dual-carriageway shortly before 1pm.

The woman was also pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Saint Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown. The southbound side of the N11 is closed at Cornelscourt to allow access for garda investigators.

In both cases witnesses are being asked to come forward and contact gardaí at Clonmel and Dún Laoghaire respectively.
