Men with hammer and crowbar rob house - and take samurai sword

The incident took place in the Ardoyne area of North Belfast last night.

TWO MEN ARMED WITH a large hammer and crowbar ransacked a property and assaulted a man before making off with a samurai sword, knife and phone.

PSNI detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the Ardoyne area of North Belfast last night, Sunday 31 March.

Police say that sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm, two males, one wearing a green hooded top and the other a white hooded top, forced their way into a house in the area.

The men were carrying what is believed to be a large hammer and a crowbar. They went on to ransack the property and assaulted the male occupant, who required hospital treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

The two males made off in the direction of Hesketh. One of them was carrying a Samurai sword, which they had taken from the premises. A 14-inch dragon knife and black Samsung phone were also taken from the property.

Detectives at Tennent Street are asking anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Tennent Street on 0845 600 8000. Information can be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
