INDEPENDENT SENATOR RONAN Mullen has claimed that most of his colleagues in Leinster House will vote against the same-sex marriage referendum.
Despite all four main parties coming out in support of a Yes vote in the 22 May referendum, Mullen claimed in an interview with TheJournal.ie that he would “guess” that most TDs would vote against it.
Mullen, who is campaigning for a No vote, also claimed that he has received “soft support” for his views amongst Dáil and Seanad colleagues. He cited a Fine Gael senator who he said told him yesterday:
“You know, there’s not much I can do during the debate but you know which way I’ll be voting.”
