Court for man arrested after €1.54m drugs seizure

The drugs were uncovered in a vehicle in Rosslare by a sniffer dog on 2 August.

A MAN WAS to appear in court today following the discovery of heroin worth more than €1.5 million.

The man was to appear before a special sitting of Gorey District Court at 11am following his arrest on 2 August in relation to a drug seizure at Rosslare Europort.

Officers from Revenue’s Customs Division seized 10.26kgs of heroin with a street value of almost €1.54 million (subject to analysis) at Rosslare Europort.

Gardaí said that a 4×4 was stopped and searched by Customs at Rosslare Europort and during the search customs officers located drugs concealed in the vehicle.

A male aged 63 was arrested by gardaí and taken to Wexford Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice( Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
