Four men and two women convicted of sexual exploitation of teenage girls

All told seven people had been accused of 74 charges of child sexual exploitation including rape, false imprisonment and the procuring of children to become prostitutes.

THREE MEN AND two women have been convicted of a number of offences concerning the sexual exploitation of teenage girls in Rotherham, England.

Two others were acquitted by the jury in the exploitation trial after three days of deliberations at Sheffield Crown Court the Rotherham Advertiser reports.

One other defendant had admitted ten charges before the trial began.

In total the five were convicted of 55 charges regarding the rape, assault, and indecent assault of a number of teenage girls in the South Yorkshire town.

40-year-old Arshid Hussain was convicted of rape, assault and indecent assault, while his brother Basharat (38) was convicted of indecency with a child, procuring a female for sex, indecent assault and rape.

Their other brother Bannaras had pleaded guilty before the trial began.

53-year-old Qurban Ali was found guilty of conspiracy to rape.

Two women, Karen MacGregor (58) and Shelley Davies (40), were convicted of conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to procure a child to become a prostitute, and false imprisonment.

Additionally, two further men were cleared on all counts.

The trial had lasted two months, while the allegations had shaken the locality when first revealed 18 months ago in August 2014.

The court had heard how a succession of teenage girls were repeatedly raped, beaten, used as prostitutes and passed between their abusers.

All six of those convicted will be sentenced on Friday 26 February.
