A RUNAWAY TRAIN in London this morning only narrow missed colliding with a passenger train, the Telegraph reports.

An engineering train became uncoupled as it was being towed on the Northern Line for maintenance work, and travelled for 13 minutes through six stations before coming to a halt.

Passenger trains were diverted from the train’s route on the Northern Line but rail authorities said a collision was “only narrowly avoided”.

The incident occurred just before 7am and caused disruptions on the Tube network this morning.

London Underground (LU) has launched an investigation and suspended the use of all engineering trains of the same type as the one involved this morning.

An estimated 3 million people take the Tube every day around London.
