Save the date: General Election 2011 is on February 25

Eamon O Cuiv confirms Friday polling day after dissolution of Dail signed off by President Mary McAleese

OUTGOING MINISTER FOR the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has officially confirmed 25 February as polling day for the general election. Polling hours will be from 7am to 10pm.

  • The statement from Eamon O Cuiv’s press office said that the latest nominations for candidates will be noon on 9 February 2011.
  • Candidates may withdraw their nominations up to noon the following day, 10 February 2011.
  • People who are eligible to vote but are not yet on the register still have time to apply for entry in the supplementary register. Check online at checktheregister.ie and comleted application forms must be received at the relevant county or city council by 8 February 2011.
