A SEVEN-YEAR-old girl has walked free from the wreckage of a private plane that crashed that killed four people, in a wooded area of Kentucky in the US.

Police said earlier today that the young girl walked to the home of a local man and told him she had been involved in a plane crash. They said she was “in distress” and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Search crews located the wreckage of the small plane and confirmed the bodies of four people had been found.

“The fatalities account for the pilot and remaining passengers,” Kentucky police said.

Investigators are due to arrive at the scene today to inspect the wreckage of the Piper PA-34-200T aircraft.
