Manhunt: Gardaí seek man in balaclava who opened fire at Dublin shopping centre

The man opened fire near a KFC and escaped in a silver Volkswagen Golf.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED a fresh appeal for witnesses in the wake of a shooting at a shopping centre in north Dublin last evening.

A gunman opened fire in the car park of the KFC at Charlestown Shopping Centre near Finglas at 6.15pm. The shots hit another car, and no-one was injured.

In a statement this afternoon, gardaí said the man had fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf with the registration number 02 MH 7775.

The car was later found burnt out at Shancastle Estate in Clondalkin, to the west of the city, and has been removed for forensic tests.

“The man was wearing a balaclava and is not better described,” this afternoon’s statement said.

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf is also believed to be male.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information particularly those who may have observed the silver Volkswagen Golf prior to its arrival at Charlestown or its discovery later at Shancastle Estate, Clondalkin to contact them at Finglas Garda Station 0n 01 6667500, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.”
