Poll: Do you think Ireland should have an opt out system for organ donation?

Ireland currently has an opt-in system, do you think that should change?

TODAY MARKS THE start of Organ Donation Awareness Week and we’re asking for your opinion on an opt out system being implemented in Ireland.

We currently use an ‘opt-in system’ which means that people have to express their consent before their organs can be donated.

Some countries in the EU have already brought in laws for an opt-out system, where patients would have to express their wishes not to donate. Otherwise, medical staff will presume they are donors.

We want to know: Do you think Ireland should have an opt out system for organ donation?

Poll Results:

Yes (5047)
No (999)
I don't know (136)
