HOUSING MINISTER SIMON COVENEY was live with TheJournal.ie from Facebook headquarters in Dublin’s docklands to answer YOUR questions on Ireland’s rent crisis.

Our political reporter Christina Finn put questions sent in from TheJournal.ie readers over the past 24 hours to the minister.

There was a large volume of questions sent in by readers covering a wide range of issues, including the yearly 4% increase on rent, the two-year rent freeze, and the issue with AirBnb properties.

Minister Coveney launched a major plan just before Christmas with rental pressure zones designated to certain areas around the country – including Dublin and Cork City.
