Skibbereen fire revealed cannabis plants worth €200,000

The fire broke out in a premises on Skibbereen’s Main St yesterday – and when it was put out, the plants were discovered.

A FIRE AT a premises in Skibbereen, Co Cork, led to the discovery of €200,000 worth of cannabis plants.

The discovery was made yesterday at a house on the Main St of the town. Gardaí said that a fire had been reported at the house at 12.30pm, and once it was put out it was discovered that cannabis plants were located there.

The plants have an estimated street value, subject to analysis, of €200,000.

There have been no arrests at this time. The building has been sealed off for technical examination and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
