EVERY WEEKDAY evening, brings you the five stories you need to know by 5pm.

1. #TURKEY: Two women from Co Down who were stabbed to death while on holiday in Turkey have been named as Kathy Dinsmore and Marion Graham. A 17-year-old Turkish boy has been arrested in connection with the attack and is understood to have confessed.

2. #BOMB ATTACK: A suicide bomber attacked a Sunni mosque in Pakistan today as around 300 people participated in Friday prayers. At least 40 people were killed and another 85 wounded. Eyewitness Saleem Khan criticised the attacker for striking during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The attack occurred in Ghundi, in the Kyber tribal region, a key area for both the US and NATO as a large potion of their non-lethal troop supplies pass through it.

3. #FOUND: Two Dublin children who went missing on Wednesday afternoon have been found safe in Co Kildare. Gardaí have thanked the public for assistance in locating the 11- and 13-year-olds.

4. #PAPAL VISIT: Speaking during his four-day Spanish visit, Pope Benedict XVI said that modern society is suffering from “amnesia” about God. The pope is in Spain to attend the Catholic Church’s youth festival, which is being streamed live by the Diocese of Meath. Riot police last night forced groups protesting against the papal visit from Madrid’s main square in a second day of demonstrations.

5. #SHOWTIME: It’s been a long week (maybe even a long day), so why not take a break and check out our featured award-winning short for this week: The Wonderful Story of Kelvin Kind.
