EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, brings you the five stories you need to know before you clock off for the day

1. #CENTRA Centra apologised earlier about a controversial promotional leaflet advertising beer offers as part of its ‘Children’s Allowance Day Deals’. The leaflets were distributed in four stores, and the promotion has been withdrawn immediately.

2. #ULSTER BANK Ulster Bank faced more trouble today as one of its branches in Co. Down was a subject of an armed attack by a raider who made off with a sum of money. Meanwhile the bank’s parent company RBS has insisted that customers are not low priority when compared to UK lenders.

3. #BILL The bill for last week’s floods in Cork is expected to pass €1 million, according to Cork County Council. Meanwhile flood victims are to be given emergency cash to pay for food clothes and other essentials as the recovery effort continues.

4. #SEANAD Drew Nelson, the first member of the Orange Order to address the Oireachtas, has told the Seanad that the Order would like to hold a parade in Dublin.

5. #BANKRUPT A town in California has filed for bankrupty following a $43 million legal judgement that’s more than twice the town’s budget. A poor snow season also hurt the town’s finances because it caused a dip in tourism.
