Teenager killed in three-vehicle road crash

The crash happened at Kilcogy early this morning.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD MAN has died after a three-vehicle collision in Cavan this morning.

The man was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a truck and another car at Kilcogy in Cavan at 7.30am this morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital. No one else was injured in the crash.

The road has been closed to facilitate a forensic examination and diversions are in place.

It’s the third death on Irish roads in the last 24 hours following the death of a pedestrian in Carlow yesterday evening and the death of a teenage boy after two motorbikes collided in Cherry Orchard, Dublin.

Gardaí have asked any witnesses to the incident in Cavan to contact them at Cavan Garda station on 049 436 8800, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
