EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, brings you five things you should know before you head out the door…

1. #TWEETGATE: The ‘tweetgate’ saga rumbles on as Sinn Féin today denied any involvement in the Twitter account that sent out the ‘bogus tweet’ during the controversial Frontline presidential debate last year. Earlier, the Green Party called on Sinn Féin to “come clean about what happened” on the night of the debate.

2. #OPTIMISM: Finance Minister Michael Noonan was in Paris today to have “the best fun I have had in a long time” as he rang the opening bell at the Paris Bourse stock exchange. He confidentially predicted that Ireland’s economy could “take off like a rocket”… if the rest of the world economy starts growing.

3. #HOUSEHOLD CHARGE: Have you paid the household charge yet? According to the latest figures over a quarter-of-a-million households have complied with the €100 tax ahead of the deadline of 31 March. The government expects that 1.6 million Irish homes are liable for the charge and it can raise €160 million as a result.

4. #ST PATRICK’S DAY: The weekend is almost upon us as we celebrate all that is Irish in the world. Here’s the Taoiseach’s message, the oddest press release related to St Patrick’s Day, a slideshow of leprechauns, some green sheep, and a warning from a government minister.

5. #PAPAL PERFUME: An Italian perfume-maker has come up with the most heavenly scent, a perfume that is said to reflect Pope Benedict’s love of nature with combined hints of grass, verbana and lime tree. Sounds lovely.
