1. #LABOUR: The situation regarding this week’s vote on the Social Welfare Bill, which would bring in Budget measures such as child benefit cuts, is “becoming increasingly volatile”, said Labour MEP Nessa Childers. She said that, had she a vote on the issue, she would vote against the bill.

2. #BARNARDOS: The children’s charity, Barnardos, said they will close for a week next year to save money and have chosen a week in August as it is the time of the year with the least impact.

3. #CO MEATH: A ‘suspicious approach’ was reportedly made towards three young boys in Kells, Co Meath last week. Apparently two men in a car told the boys they had presents in the back. Gardaí believe the approach was an isolated incident but are urging parents and children to be vigilant.

4. #BOG BODY: An ancient body was found in Rossan Bog, Co Meath on Friday by Bord na Móna workers. The body was found to be in good condition but without a head.

5. APPLE MAPS: Australian police have contacted Apple after they had to assist motorists who became stranded in a National Park when following map directions on the iPhone. They were found 70km away from their destination.
