EVERY WEEKDAY evening, TheJournal.ie brings you the five things you should know by 5pm.

1. #SEARCH: The Defence Forces, the RAF and the Irish Coast Guard have all been involved in a search for a man in his 20s who was reported missing from a cargo vessel in the Irish Sea this morning. The Fehn Sirius is currently retracing its route from Arklow to Belfast.

2. #DART: The driver of a DART has been injured following an explosion in his cabin while the train was at Bray station during this morning’s rush hour. Iarnród Éireann has started an investigation into the blast which occurred when detonators – which are a standard part of a driver’s kit bag – exploded.

3. #JAILED: John Dillon, the former president of the Irish Farmers Association, has been imprisoned for refusing to pay €200 in fines issued over his use of electronic road signs during the General Election last year.

4. #JOBSWATCH: There were two good news stories on the jobs front today. In Dublin, animation masters Boulder Media announced that it had added 50 positions to its crew after Disney commissioned the firm to co-produce a 52-part series.

Meanwhile in Cork, a new research unit at Mercy University Hospital will create 10 jobs as it increases its focus on improving treatments for cancer, heart disease, bowel disorders and nutrition.

5. #MAKEOVER: Grafton Street in Dublin is to be completely repaved by Dublin City Council. The damaged redbrick paths will be replaced with a pink and grey granite scheme. Fancy!
