EVERY MORNING, brings you the nine things you need to know as you begin your day.

1. #TALIBAN The Taliban has claimed responsibility for an attack on a NATO camp in Afghanistan, saying it was revenge for an anti-Islam film which was uploaded to YouTubeThe BBC reports that at least two US marines were killed in the attack on Camp Bastion in Helmand Province. Protests against the video began on Tuesday.

2. #BAILOUT EU Finance ministers will continue talks in Cyprus today aimed at reaching a deal on how the ECB supervises the banks. Michael Noonan is continuing to work towards more favourable terms on Ireland’s EU-IMF bailout.

3. #ALAN RYAN Three men are due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court this morning at 11am in connection with dissident activity at the funeral of Real IRA member Alan Ryan in Donaghmede in Dublin last Saturday. Gardaí are investigating the possession and discharge of firearms at the funeral.

4. #TOPLESS An Italian magazine has said that it’s planning to publish topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. The magazine Chi has said the images, which were taken while she was on holidays with her husband Prince William in France, will appear in a special issue next week. The pair have already launched legal proceedings against the French magazine Closer.

5. #STABBING A man is due to appear in court this morning in connection with the stabbing of a man in Ballymun yesterday. The body of the thirty-year-old, named locally as Jason Flannery, was found at a house on St Joseph’s way in the early hours of Thursday morning.

6. #CHEMICALS A number of containers, some of which contain hazardous chemicals, are floating towards the south west coast of Ireland according to a report in the Irish Examiner. The containers fell from a German ship after an explosion on board on 14 July. Some of the containers have already been recovered.

7. #WHISTLEBLOWER Louise Bayliss, the woman who went public on HSE plans to hold mental health patients in a locked facility over Christmas has been let go from the Irish Advocacy Network, which says it has no jobs for trainees who have completed a six-month training programme.

8. #FREE MONEY Would you take money for a stranger, or give your own money away to someone you don’t know? That’s what you’re being asked to do today, which has been dubbed ‘Free Money Day’.

9. #PESKY GNATS A new video game called Pesky Gnats developed by an Irish clinical psychologist is being used to help children in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. There are also hopes to turn the game in to an app which young people can use during therapy sessions.
