The Finance Bill: The schedule in full

Here’s how the next week in the Dáíl and Seanad will pan out, in order to allow an election be held as quickly as possible.

The following is the full schedule of the timetable for the passage of the Finance Bill through the Dáil and Seanad this week, as agreed by Brian Lenihan and the opposition last night.

Tuesday, Jan 25

Dáil Éireann (sittings begin 2:30pm)

  • Order of Business, confirming schedule for the week
  • Second Stage

Wednesday, Jan 26

Dáil Éireann (sittings begin 10:30am)

  • Second Stage, to be completed by 12pm
  • Committee Stage, with between 30 and 60 minutes maximum per section
    (Ceann Comhairle to waive usual four-day notice requirement for amendments)

Thursday, Jan 27

Dáil Éireann (sittings begin 10:30am)

  • Committee Stage, to be completed by 11am
  • Report Stage, to be completed by 5pm

Friday, Jan 28

Seanad Éireann (sitting times TBC)

Second Stage

Saturday, Jan 29

Seanad Éireann (sitting times TBC)

Remaining stages

Dáil Éireann to reconvene on Saturday afternoon, if required, t0 examine Seanad amendments

Tuesday, Feb 1

Dáíl Éireann, if not yet been dissolved:

  • Fine Gael motion of no confidence in Taoiseach, to be taken in government time
  • Labour motion of no confidence in government, to be taken in government time
  • No other business to be scheduled
