Seizure

This is what €1 million worth of drugs looks like

The haul, seized in Drogheda, was displayed at Garda HQ today.

A €1 MILLION DRUGS haul has been displayed by gardaí.

The haul of heroin, cocaine and cannabis was seized as part of an intelligence operation by the Garda National Drugs Unit (GNDU) in Drogheda at the weekend.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €1 million.

Speaking at Garda HQ, Detective Superintendent Stephen Courage (GNDU) re-iterated the commitment of An Garda Síochána in tackling drug crime:

“We are determined to continue working with communities countrywide to ensure that the scourge of drugs is eliminated from the country’s streets. We know that by targeting the sale and supply of drugs, we are targeting the livelihood of criminals, and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.

“We will continue to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks, utilising advanced analytical and intelligence methods to facilitate targeted operations, such as seen in Drogheda last weekend.

“Be in no doubt, we are committed to tackling the sale and supply of drugs at all levels.

By working alongside the various agencies and local community groups, An Garda Síochána will continue to play our part in maintaining a safer community.”

Two men appeared in court on Sunday in connection with the seizure. They will appear again later this month.
