A DUBLIN MAN has pleaded guilty to murdering a 63-year-old man at his home last year after a trial lasting over four weeks.

Kenneth Cummins (28) with an address at Ringsend Park, Dublin 4, previously pleaded not guilty to murdering Thomas Horan (63) at Cambridge Court, Ringsend on January 6, 2014.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt told the jury at 4.15pm this afternoon that “something was going to happen now which will explain why we had this delay.”

Mr Kenneth Cummins was then re arraigned in front of the jury where he pleaded guilty to the murder of Mr Horan.

Mr Justice Hunt then told the jury Mr Cummins has “taken a certain course of action and had instructed his team to that effect.”

The judge told the jury that this brings its involvement in the trial of Kenneth Cummins to an end and they now have one trial to deal with, that of his sister Ms Sabrina Cummins.

“I will proceed to deal with instructions in her trial in the morning.

“See you at 10am,” he said.

Sabrina Cummins(37), with an address at Ringsend Park, Dublin 4, has pleaded not guilty (NOT) to murdering Thomas Horan (63) at Cambridge Court, Ringsend on January 6 last year.

Last week under cross examination Sabrina Cummins agreed with prosecution counsel that she kicked and punched Mr Horan and “joined in” trying to kill him.

The jury heard there were two separate trials going on in front of them with evidence common to both and the concept that would assist them in this case was corroboration.

In a statement, the court heard Ms Cummins put her hands around Tom’s neck.

“I held the belt, Kenneth put it on, I wasn’t strong enough to pull it. I went to the bathroom and got a bottle, a white clear one.”

Gardaí asked Ms Cummins did Kenneth hold Tom’s arm when she poured the liquid into Tom’s mouth?

“Yes. I attacked Tom in his right side with a fork,” said Ms Cummins.

When asked by gardai what led to this if Tom was a friend?

Cummins replied saying her brother Kenneth said Tom had said stuff about her sister Breda.
