NEW YORK GOVERNOR Andrew Cuomo has said women posing nearly naked for photos in Times Square are breaking the law and undermining efforts to keep the tourist area family friendly.

Cuomo told NY1 the situation is beginning to remind him of the seedy days of the “bad old Times Square.”

The women wear body paint and thongs while posing for photos with tourists.

Technically, it’s not illegal for women to go topless in New York.

Cuomo says the activity is interfering with “legitimate” businesses.

Today Mayor Bill de Blasio announced he has set up a task force in an effort to take action on the topless women and costumed characters in Times Square.

“I think what’s happening with those individuals is clearly a business dynamic and it should be regulated like a business, but for that to be done we need to identify the appropriate legislation that needs to be passed by the City Council,” de Blasio said.
